The founders of Basketball Politics grew up inside this system. As players, they navigated the basketball journey from the grassroots level and beyond. They helped shape the scene you see today and faced every crossroads that basketball families encounter.
With a success rate of just 1-2%, each of them made it through to the other side. Taévaunn earned a scholarship, reached the NCAA, and completed a Bachelor in Business Administration with a focus on business management, then played professionally across multiple continents before transitioning into the real estate and business finance sector. Joel played in the PAC-12, earned an MBA with Honors, and moved into the front office of an NBA franchise. Kevin progressed through JUCO, U Sports, NCAA Division II, and professional play in Canada, and now pursues entrepreneurship.
What they noticed at every level was a consistent pattern. The athletes who thrived were not always the most talented in the gym. They were the ones who understood what the game was actually offering, who understood the business, and who had a team advocating for them. They had the awareness and support system to extract the opportunities available.
Basketball Politics was built on that observation. The pathway is real — from the grassroots to college to professional — and it generates real value at every stage: footage, exposure, relationships, credentials, and economic opportunity. Yet most families navigate it without a map, making costly decisions with incomplete information and leaving value behind.
We exist to close that gap. Not to replace existing structures, but to help athletes and families move through them with clarity, strategy, and the business mindset to make the most of every step while the window is open.
